Cloth with bright gilt depiction of a shell on the front cover. Bright gilt lettering on the spine. Embossed seal of the Geological Survey of California on the back cover. Heavy wear on the top of the spine with about 1/4" missing along half the top of the spine. A 2 1/2" tear from the top along the front of the spine. Moderate edge wear otherwise. Brown endpapers with an old heavy pencil price inside the front cover. Tissue paper shows shadow from the opposite plate. Plate 32 with its tissue is detached with some tanning or foxing to the tissue. There is a cornerfold to each of the tissue and the plate. I see no other previous owner markings.
