Pilgrim's Progress in Words of One Syllable from John Bunyan by Mrs Edward Ashley Walker. Geo. A. Leavitt (publisher). (1869). 5 1/4" x 7" 335 pages plus 16 pages advertisements Hardcover with no dust jacket. Blue cloth covered beveled boards with bright gilt illustration and lettering on the front cover and maybe slightly faded gilt illustration and lettering on the spine, but still bright. Wear is somewhat heavy on the top and bottom of the spine and on cover tips. Some discoloration on the edges of the covers and on the spine. A tiny pencil notation on the front end paper. Tiny corner folds on the front and back end papers. And brightly colored chromolithographs. One of the lithographs is torn with the facing page sticking to it. It was torn, upon opening, with parts of the page are sticking to the lithograph. My theory is that this happened because the ink was not dry on the lithograph before the page was closed. I found some other abrasions on pages facing lithographs without having an effect on the lithograph. I found small incidental spots of soiling within the text. I see no other previous owner markings. No other tears, folds or creases to pages. Binding is tight with no looseness to pages. Not ex-library, not remaindered and not a facsimile reprint. For sale by Jon Wobber, bookseller since 1978.
