Ulysses by James Joyce. Random House. Fifth printing, February 1934. 6" x 8 1/4" xvii, 768 Page Hardcover with dust jacket. DUST JACKET: Front, back panels and flaps nearly complete with only minor chips. Heavy chipping to to and bottom of the spine with one chip running 1 1/2" down the back of the spine. The spine is slightly brown, a little brittle, with sign of a little water damage. There is a small hole on the front panel near the spine, possibly from insect. Also pin-point sized spots on the front panel, I suspect are also from insect. Not price-clipped, with original $3.50 price. Now protected by a removable mylar dj cover. BOOK: Bright black and red lettering on the front cover and spine. Light cover edge wear. There is a tiny hole on the front of the spine, mirroring the hole that is in the dust jacket. I'm afraid there are also signs that an insect had lunch on the joint between the back cover and the spine, but they are small holes. There is a wrinkle in the paper inside the front cover, probably from publication. Previous owner book plate on the first blank page. The light incidental ink streak on the top of the page block. The leading edge of the page block is slightly tanned. There is light shelf soiling on the bottom of the page block. The wrinkle inside the front cover has made an impression up to page 5. No other previous owner markings. No tears, folds or creases to pages. Binding is tight with no looseness to pages. Not ex-library, not remaindered and not a facsimile reprint. For sale by Jon Wobber, bookseller since 1978. IG19a
